The Isle of Skye of the west coast of Scotland has a reputation for being on of the most scenic in all of Europe, and man is it ever photogenic. I found this stone bridge while driving around the island, I just can't decide if I like the color or B&W version. First the color...

And then the B&W...

The foreground needs some serious lightening. When I first saw it, I wondered what was making the strangely shaped reflections in the pond. Then I noticed the bridge, no pond. It's there, just needs some work.
Looks like the kind of bridge you would find a troll at the opposite end of.
See if you can selectively brighten the foreground.

First off I agree with the previous statements that these need to be selectively lightened. That said, thanks for the trip down memory lane! I was there about 6 years ago and really agree with you about the beauty of the place. Unfortunately for me, I went there with some friends as part of a tour and really only got to see the place through a bus window. I'd like to see more if you got em!

Thanks for the suggestions guys, my post processing needs some work -- so I am grateful for the critique. Ok -- here's the color version with the foreground lightened. Better, or too obvious?

I think it is definitely better. My only suggestion is that you mask out the sky when applying the shadow recovery as you've now washed out the blues in the sky. Getting better though!

I'll keep working on it, thanks Guy. Sounds like you have a reason to go back....
Todd -- I think that bridge is probably 18th century, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for posting the image! I'm heading up there in a few weeks. I'm in the UK right now, but focusing on the southern coast this month.

Oh man, Erik -- I wish I was there again myself. The west coast of Scotland is simply fabulous, you're going to love it!

You did well Paul, this is a tougher exposure than it looks, one of my favorite views,

Thanks Bill, its the nature of the weather there -- always partly cloudy. Its still a work in progress...
