I just returned from a spectacular trip to Moab, where Bret did a fantastic job of guiding me in Arches and Canyonlands.
In order to take this pic of Turret Arch through North Window, you have to make a short but challenging climb up icy rocks to get to a spot that can barely hold one tripod and half a photographer.
At one point I remember Bret saying something like, "I haven't lost a client yet." I don't think he knows I also heard him mutter "...but there's always a first time."
Little did Bret know that I've been studying mountain climbing magazines so that I could learn the technically difficult but highly effective "ass crawl."
All of the pics from this trip are posted on my site.
I've also just posted a new set of Wetlands pics in my Most Recent gallery.
I'd love to hear your comments on the new pics.
Techs for this one: 40D 17-85mm @ F16 ss1/15 iso 100
btw, this is a slightly different comp of the same pic that appears on Bret's business card.
Oh by the way, I am pretty sure it's the La Sal Mountains, not Lasal.

This looks even better on my calibrated screen without the sun shining directly on it, Lance! I hope you don't mind, but I may start using the mountaineering ass crawl myself if it doesn't stop snowing here. We got another inch this morning and there is more on the way. Oh, and Richard is correct, they are the La Sal Mountains.
I'm glad you had a great trip and I hope to see you in Moab again some time soon!

Cool stuff Lance. Glad you had a good trip. You'll have to show me some of your advanced climbing technique some time.

John, I just went through your New Additions...stunning!
When I was in the San Juans, I didn't make it to American Basin or Maroon Belles. Now I have to.
Although I don't have a podcast for it yet, let me give you the User's Guide for my technique:
1-Sit down fast
2-Crawl forward, using hands and feet to maintain contact with something/anything solid at all times
3-Put an expression on your face to look like this is a normal guy thing.

Sweet man! Great set of images. Bret told me you were a riot, so it appears a good time was had by all!
