Canon 1D MKII, 600mm f4 non IS, f8, 1/800, ISO 500, RAW, RSE, CS2, bean bag on car window ledge, 35% crop.
Hi All,
Had one of my best mornings for a while today. Managed to get some decent shots of the Corn Buntings also a pair of Stonechats, and Yellowhammer and Goldfinch. This Kestrel favoured a pile of dirt as her perch, but flew off and perched onto this old container, I also have her feeding on an earthworm.
All comments welcome

Nice shot, i almost stopped yesterday when i spotted my local Kes in a tree, but i had the MH's in my sights so i went on.
Looks very fluffed up, must of been chilly?

Hi Rob
Not easy in the wild - I really like the lighting on the bird, but like you would have liked a better perch!

Hi Rob,
Lovely shot all round! For me the bird sits where it sits (It is always lovely when they are perched on that perfectly natural object, but they just don't seem to listen to us photographers do they!)

A great encounter Rob, seems you've found a great spot to live. Colours look a bit subdued was the bird that colour? Fine capture.

Lovely shot. Half the shots we see (including mine I hasten to add) are of birds sitting on pretty but artificially placed and selected perches anyway. This is arguably nmore natural. If it sits on containers to let its dinner go down, well so be it.Like the soft colours. Eric
