The problem is not with the camera but with its marketing. I went to B&H but this camera is still in back-order status. How long should I wait (for those who has experience with Nikon new products) before I can place my order.
I would like to try the new world of digital with this baby.
Thanks

Place your order now if you really want the camera. You'll be on a waiting list, and you'll receive the camera when they get one or two new shipments. If you wait until all waiting lists have been cleared and the body is freely available, you'll wait much longer.
The D3 is a hot item, and after the D200 "debacle", many were expecting insanely long waiting times. But at least with the D300, Nikon got the job done quite well (it's already in stock in many places), and I'd expect the D3 to reach that status soon, too.
I was just notified on Friday by B&H that they had it in stock (I was on their waiting list). I've already bought a D300 and will stick with it for a while. The D3 was also available from Ritz not too long ago. I think with some searching you'll find one.

I only had to wait a little less than a week to get a D3 from Mike's Camera (Mike Luxenberg handled the sale for me) at their Park Meadows (Colorado) store. They seem to have a steady supply of them coming in and they meet B&H's price.
