Working in woodland produces a variety of species. This one paid us a visit today.
D300, Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro,
1/125sec at f/9. ISO500
Converted in NX, 10% crop and sharpened in CS2
Thanks for looking.

Nice, I have only a few shots of bank voles and this blows them all away. Very nice! How do you find the 70-200 macro? I used to have theolder EX on my D60 but i wasn't impressed.
Did you take it at a bird feeder? Or just happened upon it?

Hi Paul,
The Sigma lenses have come a long way of late. This one is excellent and the HSM II version even better!
Yes, it was taken close below a bird feeder that the squirrels had been at!
Nice catch - looks very cute. Might have a go at shifting the fresh broken twig on the left although still good as is

Very cute, I I have no idea how you can shoot this with a 70-200, if I get within 100yrds of anything it just bolts! I think this is a lovely shot and so will my girlfriend when she sees it.

Thanks folks.
I think that trying to garden the area might just have spooked him to shoot off before the shutter button was pressed!!
Your comments are appreciated.

If you go down to the woods today your shrew of a big surprise! OK I know its a short tailed vole. Having seen how fast this little fellow scarpered you did well to get the shot off!
