So that's what you were doing hunkered down in the middle of the creek. Unique view !

Darren, first thing I noticed when this image popped up in my browser was "WOW, the water is BLASTING right at me!". Forget all the technicals, yadda yadda yadda, the image has great merit all on its own by the way it pounds right at you. I also like the distant area on top because you really get the feel that this water is flowing out of the bigness of a PNW forest. Great capture.
I think the foreground overpowers everything from the mid-ground to the background. The falls here almost seem like an afterthought... The power of the image is all in the foreground.

I agree with Dave somewhat about the powerful foreground. But I think that in this case it works. It is a very powerful composition. And while I am not always a fan for SWA landscapes I like this image.
I guess the only question that it leaves for me is would it look this cool without all the WA distortion in the trees, etc...? Without it it might possibly loose the impact that it has here. Hmm....

I love it! I do think it's probably one of those love it or hate it images, but for me, it's a winner and a wall-hanger. The distortion, exposure, and comp all work together to create an image that tells a dramatic geological story.

I like this a lot - a very unique scene that isn't captured very often... there is winter in the gorge at times.. how was the walk to get here ??

Wow, that water's coming right at you. The viewer must wonder what the photographer had to go through to get off this shot.

This is great Darren! Talk about putting the viewer in the middle of the action...
