Morning,
I'm after some advice from those of you with experience of having work published - especially in magazines.
I've just had my first photo published, in the Feb issue of BBC Wildlife (brilliant!). However, it was probably only included because the article in which it appeared was about a research project I worked with last year. So essentially I used the "special circumstances" card to get published. I now want to try to be more proactive and get more photos published.
Can anybody give me advice on how to do so - procedures, tips, places to start?
I was given some advice once, which was to approach magazines directly and ask what photos they need for publication a few months down the line. Is this a recommended strategy, or is it just going to lead to dead ends (and potentially frustrate picture editors).
Cheers,
Tim Davies

Ask mags for their 'pictures wanted' lists, sometimes on their websites.
Put a dozen images together on a theme and submit those.
Try writing articles to go with the pictures as editors like packages.

Thank you Ian, that is something I can begin to work on.
