I suppose a part-time resident of NC is welcome here?......From May to Nov. you will find me around Beech Mt. taking photos of the beautiful sights around me. Each Wednesday, I take part in a birding group in Valle Crucis and all that I learn there I put to good use with my nature photography. Among my favorite spots in this area are Grandfather Mtn., local waterfalls and usually take a spring and fall jaunt up to the Mabry Mill stopping along the Blue Ridge and taking in all it's beauty.
I forgot mention that the rest of the year I'm down here in Boynton Beach,FL
This female Black Bear is a daily visitor to my friend's house on Beech and I shot this off his rear deck with Canon 400D and 24-105mm lens. I have since upgraded to a 5D.

Of course you're welcome we have people from Florida as well as NC! Sounds like you have some great places to shoot! I look forward to seeing some more shots.
Looks like that bear is cleaning up under a bird feeder? Looks like a healthy and content bear.

Another place I enjoy working is Roan Mtn., TN. My favorite photo is the sunrise at Carver;s Gap, not because of any artistic value but the fact that in my 72nd year I was able to get up there in the cold morning darkness, climb up to the bald, huffing and puffing under the weight of the camera and tripod, and still have some strength to take a few shots.
All C&C welcome, in case, I try to do this again....which I doubt!
I will return to Roan Mtn this spring to attend the "Friends of Roan Mtn." rally.

Don, welcome to the group. A couple of fine shots and you mention several areas that are favorites of mine as well. Glad to have you in the group!
