An annual tradition for me as of this weekend
spent the very gray and snowy weekend in the WHite Riv ntl forest, shooting some of my favorite ice caves, then stopped at Glenwood Canyon on the way back. There was hardly a foot of snow at this location last year, now there is 3+ feet! It was snowing hard in the mountains. Here's a sample, some better comps ill post on ESS this week.

Another cave shot--a real trip carrying camera equip through the cave--was having trouble with my crampons so just went with my snowshoes. These shots were just before sunset with moderate snow falling.

One more, a B&W from Grizzly Creek (Glenwood)

Amazing indeed! I really like the first shot, those icicles appear to be massive. Are these the limestone caves near Rifle Falls or a different location? I like the comp on your B&W too, but the highlights appear really dark on my monitor. Looks like it was a fun weekend.

Yep, same caves (wish no one knew about em!) Those dark highlites are partly due to the overcast conditions, buit i see what you mean.
Very nice Stan! The first is my favorite but they're all great...makes me want to leave work and explore some ice caves! Too bad there are none around here

Dude, I'd work that B+W a little more, I think it's got real potential.

I really like your B&W, Stan. Those ice caves are really cool. I'd like to see more.

Truly cool caves Stan, great shots!

Cool shots! I think I like the first one best. I stopped to photograph Rifle Falls on my way back from Utah, but I didn't make it to the ice caves. I may have to head there next time.

I also really like that first one. Reminds me of some of the ice caves I've seen along the shore of Lake Superior. I also like that last b&w as well. Its a very peaceful winter scene that plays well in monochrome.

I really like the first two images. Never knew that those caves iced up like that in the winter.
The B&W is a great composition - I'd consider a curves adjustment to lighten the snow ?

Hey, Stan, that first image is a real winner!

Thanks, folks! I shold have my favorite shots from the caves up later this week, maybe ill post them here as well as ESS. I was especially interested in comments on the B&W, which i agree with Laurent it has potential but not quite there--ill have to work on that.

Intersting location. I like #2 the best.

Nice shots! I like the color of the ice. The BW really turned out nice.
