Sad to say I only discoved them in passing last week. The lay by has a great veiw but is usually full of cars, tour busses and a burger van, with a piper usually on duty for the tourists. Not a usual stapping point for me.
I was driving passed when I saw the Burger van owner trying to stop 2 stags from raiding his bin.
The light was terrable and I was having tripod issues so most of the pictures were blurred.
My nit is that I should of reduced the ISO to allow a longer exposure so I may of got the horizontal rain included. I had sorted the tripod by then.
How long does the exposure need to be to show the rain?
Thanks for the comments

Use some fill flash - that'll show your rain up
Then you can move on to the advanced 'stuff' like using fill flash in mist - very interesting results

Nice caoture but its a little tight in the frame for me too!
You spend ages trying to get close to one of these then you find the A82 layby scroungers and you spend time trying to get them to stop following you.
Next time I will take a couple of steps back

Flash is still a, Pardon the pun, dark art to me. I did experiment but the results were poor.
