We're planning a trip to Moab for early April. I've never been there in April so was just wondering about weather, flowers, mud, etc.
Thanks,
Paul

Weather is usually perfect in April. Wildflowers will be blooming, roads could be muddy but most likely in good condition. Great time to be here.

I've gone to Moab in March and early May many times over the years 10 visits of 4-7 days each. I've had 85F most days in March and 60F most days in May. So the weather should be really nice in April.

But I forgot to mention one thing. Watch for the dates for Easter Jeep Safari and avoid that weekend if you can. Its not that the jeepers are bad company (unless you consider me bad company), its just that there are LOTS of people in Moab all at once.

I've been to the Canyonlands Maze District in April, and in Moab to do some drinking and mountain biking for Cinco de Mayo, and the weather has been perfect. Probably my favorite time of year for that area. Every time I've been there around that time, it's been nothing but sun, so never had any worries about mud.

I was wondering about the weather in Moab in April myself. I've been to Moab once in early May and hit a very hot spell. I would like visit again when temps are a bit cooler. Glad you asked, Paul.

Not to discourage you, but April is one of our windiest months.

Jeep Safari is in the middle of March this year. Car Show, which is a horrible time to be here, is April 25,26,27. Stay away from Moab at all costs during car show. It can be windy in April but the wind doesn't usually pick up until after sunrise, so you can still get some nice wildflower photos in the early morning.

Thanks guys. It's very helpful to know about the wind. We'll probably be out the 2nd weekend in April, so it looks like we'll miss the car/jeep shows.

Sorry if anyone read my previous note. The Jeep Jamboree is March 15-23. If your not going for the Jamboree its a great idea to stay out of town as mentioned in another post. Prices soar especially gas and lodging.
