Not the usual thing I post but I have noticed that the Peak District National Park are looking for a Photographer. Doesn't pay much as it is only 22 hours per week but might interest somebody...
Paul, I think a number of people who frequent UKNP have a degree in Photography, or a closely related subject. I think the quality of the portfolio will be the key factor.
I do have a degree in photography but am happy to admit that its probably the world's most useless qualification...
I wonder if they'd refuse to interview a big name photographer on the grounds that they didn't have the diploma/degree

Poor salary and if you are working for them they own the copyright to work - doesn't sound like a good job. Anyone with a degree and the equipment to be able to produce an outstanding portfolio will have spent huge amounts of money.
I think they may be assuming that dream jobs don't need an attractive salary
IMHO it's absolutely criminal that an organisation like the Peak District NP Authority who incidentally would not know a decent image if it hit them full on are only going to pay £18K which equates approximately to £120 per day - you use your own gear - and they have outright copyright to all the images. More the fool who takes the job.... better off selling 2 images at £60.00 per day x 150 days.... if that's their idea of a dream job - they must have some strange dreams...

PS Would be interested to know who gets the job if anybody does or finds out who does...
