I'm planning to visit friends in Lindsey around the first or second week in March. It will be my first trip out that way and plan on some short layovers in Zion and Death Valley. I would love to see some of the giant redwoods around Sequoia, but the only guide book I have suggests that I'm too early due to winter weather? Any suggestions for possible routes and camping for redwood photos and hiking, or am I indeed pressing the season? Any sites around Lindsey that I should research? Help appreciated!

Roger....are you coming to Lindsay in Tulare County? If so I live just 10 miles south of Lindsay in Porterville. The road to Sequoia (HWY 198) is open year round and it's only about an hour from Lindsay to Giant Forest... and General Sherman (the largest Sequoia) is just a few miles beyond.
There will be snow in March....but Sequoias in the snow are quite striking. You could camp below the snow line at Potwisha. The winter rates at the Wuksachi Lodge near Giant Forest are not that bad.
More info here.. http://www.nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/pvwinter.htm
You may want to venture up Yokohl Valley Road...it's just a little North East of Lindsay....lots of oaks and grassland that comes alive with wildflowers in early spring on wet years.
Feel free to contact me with any other questions you may have.

Michael and Nelcha, your information is perfect and enough to get me going with a little research. I really appreciate it! I also enjoyed seeing your web sites alot! My travel times are pretty loose right now and will have some social plans once I'm out there, so am a little reluctant to try to meet up at a certain time, but will try to email or post once I'm there and know a bit more.
