I would really like to find some more interesing birds! I'm tempted to come to Caerlaverock at the weekend. Am I likely to see some?!

Hi Ian,
Lovely capture! I really like the colours and this soft light. The reflection adds to the atmosphere, as does the point of view.

It's very nice, but I don't think it works as well as the Ruddy Duck image - something about a gull looking so serene maybe! I do like the turn of the head giving a nice profile however.

That's a beauty. It looks like an interesting bird to me. Eric

Lovely! Why shouldn't gulls be allowed a bit of serenity every now and then? Background colour is fantastic.

Eric - I have done the BHG a great injustice! What I really mean is that I keep looking for something different to take photos of, but usually end up with coots, mallards, BHG's and robins etc. I'm not a birder, but I think I could easily get hooked, hence my plan to try to get to a wild life trust place for the photo competition this weekend.

I was only joking, but I do find Gulls to be one of those subjects that are nicer on film than in real life. I think it must be because you can't hear them arguing or maybe we see so many that we take them for granted and never really stop to watch. Both great pics by the way, especially for someone who is not a birder. it may be that you have an advantage by looking more for the picture than at the bird? Eric
