The bird looks fine, but I can still see evidence of the cloned twig in the background, above the birds back into the top left hand side, something near the tail and a couple of dust bunnies too.

I agree rob, the image is ok, the bunting is good and sharp but the bright background i think makes the bird look darker and less detailed than it is.

Agree with all the above. Maybe for your own amusement you could nick a sky from another shot, or take a couple of stopped down spare skies next time to use? I don't know whether that would be deemed cheating or not. Any thoughts?

Nicely caught Rob!,
Plenty of detail and sharpness, although i agree the bg/brightness doesn't do the shot any favours.
Personally, i would be tempted to go 'the whole hog' and covert into a punchy B&W, especially as the lighting has subdued its colour.

4 repliesHi All,
This is the only decent shot I got of the Corn buntings on Sunday. Although the bird is sharp and there is detail, I'm not sure about the bright BG
I'm sure you guys can give me some advice
All comments welcome

Rob

A great bird, and one i wish i had in my files.
