Not a big deal but I always think it's a good day when you see an eagle.
I was driving back from The Dalles on 84 and saw this eagle sitting in the tree. I pulled off at the next exit and drove back to the Rowena Windsurfing Park. The eagle was in a tree about two hundred yards past the park. I let Ozzy out of the car and we wandered over to the eagle. It had it's back to us but it was watching us and I knew we wouldn't get too close so I was snapping photos with my D80 and 18/200 with the VR on the whole way. Sure enough he flew away just after I took this shot.

Nice capture Mark. Looks like that 18-200 vr came in handy.I may have to invest in one of those lens in the near future. I've never seen an eagle in that area.

I'm not a wildlife shooter, so when I first saw this I said, "hmmm, nice shot, probably with some gigantically expensive and gigantic lens..." This proves that skill can overcome gear, (sometimes.)
Excellent shot. The subject is well done, and the background is perfect, making a superior shot all around.
I would play with the levels and luminosity a bit to see if I could get a bit more contrast, but it could be my monitor and the shot is excellent as it is.
Wow, fun. I can picture the "hunt." That's a perfect snag of a tree for an Eagle's perch. Nice shot, Mark.

Very nice, Mark. I love the background. It fits the eagle wonderfully.

The eagle is small in the photo for my taste, but I like the tree it's perching in.

Bummer that it had its back to you, but at least you caught a profile. Everything here is understated - the background isn't gob-smack gorgeous, the snag isn't majestic and the eagle isn't staring you down... but it all comes together nicely. Nice.

Looks good to me. Always nice to see an Eagle shot. Isn't it great that Eagle populations have rebounded so dramatically in recent years? One of the real success stories.
