A local merchant happened to view some of my photos on Wenatchee’s outdoor website ( http://www.justgetout.net/wenatchee/ ) and contacted me. He displays local artist’s works in his café and invited me to do so in April. Other than a few small prints for family, I have never made prints from my files and I would like to contact a reliable professional lab in the Seattle area. I know this is pretty small potatoes, but it’s my first gig ever, and I’m kinda looking forward to it.

Can someone out there please give me a link or two to their favorite photo printing labs?

Thanks in advance,
Marc Dilley

I would go through West Coast Imaging, in Oakhurst CA. You simply send the files online and order online. You can choose from a huge variety of papers, inks, printers, ect. Their staff can assist you with every aspect of the printing as well. They are regarded as one of the best labs in the country. Turn around is usually about 2 weeks. www.westcoastimaging.com

I had a lady want a picture of mine and it needed to be 40x30. I told her that was kinna big for pixel count, expecially from an old pic from my canon 20d, but i sent it to wci and it came back looking pretty darn good at that size. For anyhing big that is where i send my files to. Cliff

I highly recommend that you consider PhotoPro Imaging in Gig Harbor. They will set you up with a FTP account that you can upload images to. If you act soon, you can take advantage of thier receent offer for 10% discount when you tell them that you are affiliated with Northwest Photographers (nwphotographers.net).

I have been using them for years and they are very apt to support your needs. They produce superior quality and are pretty quick to do so.

Here is a link to PhotoPro: http://www.photoproimaging.com
You may also want to sign up on NWP and see this and other discounted offers that I have arranged for members.

For great quality, reasonable prices, and excellent customer service I recommend White House Custom Color. Their turn-around is very fast; photos are usually shipped within one to two days of ordering, and 2-day shipping is free for orders over $13.

Mark, I am currently working with WCI on some very very large pano prints in the 100" x 30" range. these are images that have been stitched, not from one single image. If I finish my project before you I will let you know how it goes.

As John has mentioned, I have heard great things from WHCC.

Depending on what the pritns are gonna be used for, it sounds like display work, and depending on the size, you might be happy with Mpix. www.mpix.com. this is where I have all my standard prints made for clients. super fast turnaround time and excellent quality for the price!

WHCC does all of my printing. The print quality is untouchable, with very reasonable prices and many print sizes to choose from. They all so offer canvas prints, and many other print jobs such as greeting cards, etc.

I can vouch for David Forster's printing. He has learned from many of us here!! And is an all around great dude to spend an afternoon with talking fotografie whilst doing your printing!!

David - do you use Premium Luster at all?
Posted by Marc Dilley on February 14, 2008 at 11:42 AM
David: Thank you so much for the generous offer. I'm definitely going to keep you in mind.

Everyone: I had a large number of prints to be made (15) and decided to go through West Coast Imaging this time around. Their website just seemed easier to understand for my feeble brain. If and when there is a next time, I'll give WHCC a try.

Thank you again, to you all.

WHCC = Yes, the best quality, turn-around, AND excellent customer service for the price I found. For a big shop I am always amazed on the personal attention I get as desired.

Mpix = Not anymore. They do decent quality but poor customer service. Their parent company of Miller's which is designed for the professional and supposed to be much better than Mpix in regards to service and quality.

WCI = I too have heard great things with them and thinking about starting to use them for very large prints.
