Apple has released Aperture 2.0. Lots of nice new features, although the RAW files don't load that much faster. But the new version does not support RAW import from the Olympus E-3 (and, for all I know, other models as well). However, there is a pretty good workaround. Maybe posting the workaround here will spare others some effort.

Download Adobe's free Adobe Digital Negative Convert. It will successfully convert Olympus E-3 .ORF files to .DNG files, which Aperture can import. Be sure to get Adobe Digital Negative Converter 4.3.1 (or later). It's not superfast process - 5-7 seconds per photo) and it's a kludge, but it's a useful kludge.

On the plus side, OS X 10.5.2 was released Monday and it supports Nikon's D3 and D300 so Aperture 2.0 also supports these cameras.

Apple's web site has this footnote about DNG files:
Aperture works with most DNG files generated from cameras that support this format and DNG files generated by the Adobe DNG Converter with the “Convert to Linear Image” option turned off.
