I thought it would be fun to post an image and see if anyone can guess where it is.. This one is at a popular tourist spot in the NE section of the lower peninsula of Michigan..

Not a clue, but they seem lost. Is he googling directions on his Blackberry?
C'mon Chuck - he's checking his GPS to see which way to go to get to Florida and away from all that ice!
Susie - Is that ice??
No idea what this is, but the first thought I had was something related to logging. Not that I'm happy that all the old-growth forest is gone, but that's another thread!!

You are close, Chris.. Not about the ice, but the logging.. That's funny, Chuck! It was probably thier eras blackberry.. Cindy Mead is probably familiar with this spot. She lives closest to it.. Any other guessing before I reveal?

My admiration.. :)
I knew you would get it Cindy.. It's an awesomely beautiful location.. Especially in the Fall..
Well, I was going to ask what I get for second place, but based on the first place prize I'm not holding my breath!
So, what IS the white stuff? cj

Pantina Chris.. This monument is a bronze I believe.. It's been here for a very long time.. I also want to mention this is an area that's called the high banks.. The overlooks of the river is amazing.. This is the river they have a marathon canoe race on every year from Grayling to Oscoda.. Attended by canoe racers from around the world.. Also a blue ribbon trout stream and mile after mile of photo ops..

That just goes to show that B&W captures details so well, Susie. Like Christopher, I thought for sure that was a coating of ice. Neat shot.

I thought maybe the were down by the pond and someone unloaded a bunch of moss on them. Now there are trying to hunt the moss throwers with their weapons drawn.

My grandpa was a farmer and lumberman... My greats owned saw mills... I live just around the bend of the river from one mill they had.. I've returned to the land of my ancestors. There are people still living that remember when and the stories are still told of the rivers and how it provided for the people who settled here.. Very humbling..
