I am just starting to get a portfolio together. Could you tell me what you use to carry your porfolio around in and also, what size of pix do you use? Is there a more popular size that clients like to look at?
By the way, I absolutely love this website and this group of people. You all have the best ideas!! Thanks for your help.
One thing to be careful of is that I learned to not use the first page as the little pocket on the inside of the front cover creates a dent in the first image from the pressure of storage.
All that said these books can get kind of heavy. So, I carry all of them to an art fair so all my images can be seen. I also bring a portfolio of the recent images to work and other meeting places I go to where people can see my newest creations.
However, I encourage people to visit my website www.ecordesphotography.com The website is the best portfolio I have as people can visit and browse at their leisure. I don't sell much directly off the site, but I do sell quite a bit after people look at it and make a choice.
Hope this helps.

Portfolio size is determined by the market you want to reach. If all you want to sell are greeting cards, show those. If you want to sell desktop photos, show 8x10's. If you want to market wall decor, show 16x20s or larger. Do not make potential clients imagine how a wall decor size image will look....show them!!
Personally, I have a carrying case containing mounted photographs ranging from 11x14 up to 20x24.
Also, do not be timid about printing images to non standard sizes. If an image looks best printed as a 18x24, then present that. Do not compromise the composition of an image to make it "fit" to a standard mat or frame size.

RE my portfolio - I use images of 8 1/2 X 11 size and carry them in Itoya portfolios. Here is a link to the B&H site with the model I use.
