I haven't been to these before up out of Yacolt. Nikki and I headed up there to see what was up that way a while back..

I've been by the campground a handful of times on my way up to Silver Star Mt., but I've never stopped at the falls. I guess I better remedy that. The layers of falls, hillside, and trees are working well here, as is the nice green of the water. I'm assuming Darren is just out of the photo to the right, in the middle of the river?

Wow - perfect shutter speed on this one, Ned. The water detail is terrific, given the torrent. I also like the vertical composition - the forest is a bit flat to me, but given the perfect water exposure, I don't know that much more contrast is possible in the background. Really a nice composition! (...I'll be copying this one...)

Thanks John and Tom. That was about the only composition without scrambling down and wading - and to avoid all of the obtrusive branches..

Ned, rich beautiful color. The trees at the top provide a very strong vertical influence. This would also look very good with some of the top cropped.

Looking good, Ned....

you should keep on heading up that road, stay on the lower roads and I promise you that you will have a great day!!!!! :toast:

I agree, Darren - the only thing that stopped me was the amount of snow past the falls, and me being in my Civic... and sick... and losing light... next time I will go earlier!
