Can someone advise as to whether the speed of the above lens with a 1.4xtc used in conjuction with a d300 is fast enough to track BIF? (Barn Owl, gulls etc. etc.?)
Many Thanks

Hmmm, can't recommend this one for flight shots although I've had some success with it: http://www.wildphotolife.co.uk/Birds/slides/Herring%20gull%20291006.html
much prefer faster lenses. However with the new nikon's auto focus system it maybe good. It's a fantastic lens for macro shots of butterflies and dragonflies.

I'd suggest the 300 f2.8 for this job after having played with Monsignour Thompkinsons last weekend and remembering Tims awesome gannet shots from last year - it's the only lump of glass left on my shopping list.
