Experiment w/ repost
How to explain this one... Well, uh... More experimentation with panning on different subjects, this time a Big Leaf Maple. Well, uh... a wild idea struck me that it needed a bird. So I found a woodpecker from an image shot in AZ, and I stuck it in my tree.

Please, Spring, come soon!! I can stop this foolin' around and get out and shoot flowers!

(Disclaimer: This is totally contrived. I expect this woodpecker would not be found in this kind of tree in this State ever! This is pure artistic tom-foolery.)

Just throwin' it up here for fun, but feel free to say what you think one way or the other...

Kind of fun Catherine, the bird looks a bit fake, but I like the mood of the tree a lot. You'll be happy to know that the early spring wildflowers are blooming in the Columbia River Gorge: Grass Widows and some small Desert Parsley. They'll be on the sunnier WA side, where I plan on shooting tomorrow morning, before the wind picks up around sunrise.

I first opened this and thought, wow......then I saw the bird and lost interest.......the bird does not fit in this image in my opinion.....the image is great without it!!!!

Oh, I know, you guys, it's just a silly thing, that bird. Here's the shot without it, then: just the Big Leaf Maple, panned with a 105mm, f29 @ 1/5, ISO 100. ACR in CS3, accentuated the branches and trunks, adjusted the color a bit, threw on a curves layer, high passed it, sharpened for web. There you have it. No bird.

This is very fun Catherine. Love the verticals. Better w/o the bird!

I opened this and immediately thought "Hey, where did she find a Ladder-backed?" I have to agree it is a great art shot, and best without the bird (despite how much I enjoy Ladder-backeds  ).

Much better without the bird. By the way, had a great morning shooting the first wildflowers in the Columbia River Gorge.

I really like this. The bird was fun though... kind of a "where's Waldo" feel.

I don't quite know what to make of this. It's like a Maple imitating a Weeping Willow. Well, the effect is beautiful anyway.
