Hey folks, sorry I haven't been around much, life has been very busy lately. I'm going to post this in ESS later, but thought I would get your opinions here first.
I just got back from a rock climbing trip to Smith Rock, it was tons of fun! I even managed to get some photography in. I went out there with my mom who is a great climber, the weather was ideal for hiking and climbing, we had so much fun. I got to do my first outdoor lead climbs, what a rush
It was incredibly crowded during the day, but I had the whole area all to myself for sunrise. Pure bliss.
1.6 sec @ f/16, ISO 100
2 stop ND grad used for the sky. Taken 10 minutes before sunrise.

Great Shot Zack. A very calming image. Looks like it was a tough exposure and you managed to pull color out of the sky as well as detail out of the foreground. Well done.

Cool image, Zack - lower right and left margins are a bit muddy, but the center foreground is excellent. Nice light!

Nice one. I think it's a better representation of the area than the comp Mark posted recently. I think the middle to foreground would benefit from perhaps a .5 stop more exposure?

nice light in the sky, but agree .5 stop brighter on the main focus of the image would improve the color

Looks good to me Zack! There's no evidence of a grad line in the rock... how'd you do that, careful dodging afterwards?
Posted by Zack Schnepf on February 18, 2008 at 10:06 PM
No dodging, I was using a soft grad so no grad line.

Looks good, Zack. I like how you caught the bend in the river.

Wonderful shot Zack. I do prefer the subtle increase in foreground exposure (recommended above) in the ESS version.
