I have been unhappy with the sharpness of my 100-400 at f5.6 for a while now - I put it down to me getting more critical of my results. Having reviewed some old images however, I found that it was initially sharp, but after a repair to the IS unit is not any longer.
Guy Edwardes recommended Canon at Elstree to get it "sharpened up", but they tell me (despite what their web site says) that they don't do "repairs".
Where would you recommend to get it sorted (the IS work was done by Lehmanns about 2 years agao, and I am not inclined to send it back there)
I also have a 40D and 10-22 lens that had an unfortunate encounter with seawater that need attention
Thanks
Gary

When i had problems with a 100-400 Canon advised that i send it to Colchester cameras which i did and they provided good service-If you send the body in at the same time they could calibrate them to each other
I don't know who told you that they don't Gary, as I have had all my lens calibrated with the MKIII. But it is not cheap
The 500 seems a lot better, the 300 2.8 not much change. The others I will see over the next few months all though I am not a real great lover of the 100-400 it will be on its way to India with me
Phil they repaired my 500 and added something else to the pot, a broken cable which gave me a few problems until Canon had it back. Think I might give them a wide birth IMHO?

They certainly do repairs at Canon Elstree. I have been there many times. Unfortunately I had the same problem with a 100-400mm. It was very sharp initially but after an IS repair it was never the same despite several visits to Canon.
