Anyone have any idea or rumours or any sort of information on whether such a model actually will see day light anytime in the future? Does Canon even have plans for it?

I am looking to upgrade to a professional camera, and would have bought 5D long time ago, but seeing the new models coming out and their advantages (such as "live" mini screen and better protection against dust and water, etc.) I figured I would save alot of money waiting for an upgrade to 5D. If anyone has arguments for why I should just go out and buy the 5D and stop waiting, I gladly want to hear them here

Well, I'm waiting for 5D Mk2 myself. My biggest reason for not getting the Mk1 - 3fps. And hopefully, now that 2 years are past, the newer model will have greater dynamic range and improved low-noise capabilities (it is going to be my travel and landscape camera, and a backup wildlife body).

I can make do with my 40D for now so I might as well wait and get the latest improvements in sensor technology.

Ram,

I had brought this up as well some time back. Looks like the new 5D is coming this fall. Alot of speculation on other net forums about specs. I talked with a Midwest Region Canon Rep and he speculates the cost is going to be between $ 4 - $ 5K. :wavey:

I have been wating for it, too, but "between $ 4 - $ 5K"? Ugh, I thought the prices were supposed to be going DOWN. The 5-D started out as sort of an intermediate camera, between the 20D and series 1 bodies, but at over $4K, the new 5D would up there with the pro models.... But I guess you still get what you pay for -- no wonder the 5D was so popular.

If there's any truth to what the sales rep said you better grab a 5D while there still available, unless of course price is not a consideration.

Thanks :)

I think I will wait till summer. If 5D upgrade doesnt appear, I will probably go with 40D, it will go fine with Efs 10-22 lens I have :)
