Mountain Hare at speed
Spent yesterday trying to get some close up images of these little buggers, sorry beauties.

This is the best shot of the day but would of been better if it was coming towards me, although I don't think they do that very often.

Any comments very welcome

Looks like he saw you first-suprised to see that you only compensated +1/3 for a white subject in snow
Would love to have a go at these guys

Hi Ian,

Lovely pose here! Would have been nice if he run towards you though but what can you do!
Keeps you hungry for more!
Lovely nonetheless!

I dont know about Mountain Hares Ian but every now and then Brown Hares will almost run right at you. Great start though showing that leg movement off a treat. :toast:

Thanks for the comments

Dave - Re the exposure, as most of the hares I had photographed were stationary, but distant, I was bracketing. When this one came running by all i could do was press the shutter and hope. This was the only one fully in focus and sharp.

Major - Re running towards you, one night many years ago I was driving down the roads in Lincolnshire when I saw a Brown Hare running straight at me. I stopped the car but it kept coming, full speed hit with a major bang. I felt very guilty but 'he hit me officer.'

David - I did have one run my way. I was laid on the deck trying to creep up on one over a ridge when one ran up to me from behind, it was away before I had chance. As for hungry I felt like shouting, behave or you will be jugged at some of the little .........

Tim - Very good :toast: :toast:

Andy, if you ever come up to Scotland drop me an email and I will give you directions to these.

Again thanks

Nice shot and one day you will get one coming the other way and you may well be glad that you had some practice. The ears tell you a lot about a hare. Stood up like that they tell you that he isn't the least bit concerned about you, he is just being prudent. When they are really trying to put some distance between themselves and a threat those ears will be flat, laid tight down on its back and he will be going twice as fast!.
