Hi all

Came across this little fella today, hopping around minus a tail and with poorly developed wings (almost like a fledgling). Struggling to ID him with any certainty and wondered if anyone can help. He was on a pathway between woodland and reedbeds.

As he could barely fly I was very tempted to take him home to save him from the barn owls patrolling the area. Shoo-ed him into thick cover instead. Will probably be worrying about it all night now!

Not for critique as I know it is, at best, a record shot.

Many thanks

Simon

Its a Cetti's Warbler, they stay here in winter, its torpidity could be thats its sick or stunned by a collision perhaps.

Sad, but that's life Simon. Good detail & colour.

Can you put some EXIF details in please.

Interestingly the only shot I have of a cetti's is of a tail disapperaring into a bush. It's for sale if you want to make a full set! It might only be a record shot but it a good, sharp, nicely exposed one all the same.

Hi Simon,

Hard as it may be, you did the right thing. It's always a hard situation, but that's life and we have to respect nature's way.

I agree with Eric - it may only be a record, but it's a darn good one!
