Nice idea, but for me the top third competes with the monochrome lower elements, a tighter crop concentrating on the bottom two thirds would be worth trying as well - something along the lines of this quick and resized hack

I see what Mike means, but I definitely prefer the original. I have a real soft spot for monochrome images with elements of colour in them (if that makes sense). Lovely shot Guy.

I definately prefer the original, as the main attraction of the image IMHO (in addition to the ice, of course) is the way the waterfall progresses from a relatively narrow point at the top of the image and gradually expands to the wider portion at the bottom with an excellent 60/40 split of ice and water.
Love the way the flowing water is framed either side by the ice.

Super.... reminds me of how cold York was on tuesday.....

I too prefer the original. the movement in the water is just right and contrasts with the static ice nicely.

A nice composition Guy. The ice structure and colour in the upper section gives the image real impact to me. Graham

Hi Guy,

If it was mine, I'd would be more than happy with the original.
It's a cracker!

Original works best for me aswell Guy - very nice subtle colours and a nice comp to my very 'un-landscapey' eye :toast:
