Sultan Mtn.
Here's a shot from snowboarding/skiing today. This is right about treeline; it was really cold and windy as this storm was rolling in, and Sultan Mountain loomed above menacingly. I hope to ride down that peak later in the season... it's one of my favorites in this region.

Your thoughts on this photo are appreciated!

While I'm at it, here's one of my buddies on the way down.

Looks really cold. You should have stuck around for some night skiing--may even see a couple lightning strikes tonight--just think, a snowy slope lit up by several million volts--now that would be something to remember

I like the ghostly look of Sultan....and the skiing shot is pretty sick., Nice!

I like the way you can just make out the mountain in the background. Very nice!

Love it, Jack! I dig seeing just the hint of mountain. I'd like to see this same shot right after the storm clears and you have brilliant blue skies. It'd make an awesome juxtaposition.

The first shot is killer, basically a B&W.

The mountain reminds me of the background on the Colorado license plates with the hint of rocks thing going on...nice shot!

That screams winter storm! You ski some crazy stuff, I hope you have a locator/transmitter that will call in a helicopter if you need rescuing.

How about sending some of the extra fun down here, Jack?.

You're clearly having more than the one-person fun allotment. I'm wiping the drool from my mouth.

The first shot is amazing.

Thanks for your comments, everyone!

Stan - that sounds like a nightmare!!! Haha.

Todd - yeah I'd like to go back up there and camp out in a few weeks. Great view of Sultan from there.

Don - We don't carry GPS transmitters (PLBs) when we ski, but we do always carry avy beacons, chose safer lines, and follow proper backcountry protocol. Oh and just for the record, I snowboard.

Lance - I don't believe in the one-person fun allotment. :toast:

Very nice Jack. The skier shot looks like they're having a blast.

The Obscured By Clouds, Sultan is sublime! Wish I Were there! Get the Floyddesque Hints?
Anyway i like it!

That first one is gorgeous, Jack. Way cool how the Sultan barely shows through the clouds.

The peak looks great! Love the mountain. You had a great powder for skiing! (sorry to hear that you are a snowboarder.  )

Knowing that it's a snowstorm - as opposed to a low cloud - lets me appreciate the severity of the conditions. It's very nice regardless, but comes across as more compelling with the knowledge of what was going on.

That second shot... what Dave said: "sick".
