One more not strictly natural post from this weekends Ecola trip with Hans. This image was taken while we were waiting for the sunset. Comments and critiques welcome.
Also, thank you for all of your comments on my previous posts, they are very much appreciated.

Love the comp, but I think it's a bit grainy and might could use some more contrast.
I like this PNW palette of color. It's so subtle and moody and wintery coastal. I like it very much.

I am not so worried about the grain....usually that works itself out nicely in a print (where the rubber meets the road for me) The composition also works on this one...the only area I see that bothers me is the main subject....the lighthouse...is so soft in the picture that it just gets kinda lost. (probably where the contrast comments are coming in from the other posters)

The wave action is great. Nice exposure for the water. Like the contrast with the rocks. Less sky may help as it isn't really doing anything for the shot.

Maybe the grain is a by-product of oversharpening here in this jpeg - but aside from that, this is one of the best I have seen of this icon.... well done!

David: The long lens works well here and I really like the spray on the R flank of rocks. I agree w/ Rick, however, about the grainy sky and find it distracting. Other than that a very pleasing image.

The only part I don't like is the halos along the edges.

Nice... I'd try this as a B&W

Works for me. Just wish that the splash on the right showed up as well as the rest of the surf.

I think you should just add some more noise to it and call it good......some images like this one I feel would benefit from the added grain/noise.......just my opinion

THis is very cool. The grain in the sky is a little distracting, but might be fine on print. The wave action, and framing of the lighthouse is great. Catherine was spot-on with her comment of the PNW color palette.
I do agree that a little more contrast, particularly in the white water and the lighthouse perch would help.

I like this one a lot. This is a classic, and the grain only helps it in my opinion. It might not enlarge well because of the grain, but it is a wonderfully dramatic coastal photograph.
Fix the sharpening halos, enlarged it as much as possible and hang on a wall. Oh, and send me a copy!
