Canon EOS 1D MKII, 600mm f4 IS, 1.4x conv, f7.1, 1/1600, ISO 320, -1/3, RAW, RSE, CS2, Bean bag on car window, slight crop for comp.
Hi All,
Had an early day at work today so as it was a nice day went out to look for Corn Buntings, they were sadly very quiet and a fair distance away, but I was very pleased to five Stonechats, three males and two females, they seemed to be pairing up with the males having mid air fights ( I tried but no decent shots ), so very pleased in finding five because at the weekend could'nt find my normal pair and thought they had moved on.
I would like any ideas about re-cropping this, as although I like the rest of the perch on the RHS, not sure about the bird being in the centre of the frame
All comments welcome
Regards
Rob

Nice one Rob
I think I'd go for a portrait crop on this though and lose the dead stalks on the right.
Wish I could find some of these

Lovely shot Rob, I would lose the twigs on the right and recrop with the bird off centre.
Seems like we were both out playing the same games today
A bird I have yet to get a sharp picture of Rob,so am green with envy at your stonechat image's,would agree with Andy about the portrait crop

Hi Rob I liked the first one which shows the envir. the sec one is a very good portrait. The best for me is the light as It takes out the beautiful colours of this fantastic small bird.

Hi Rob,
Superb shot! Both FF and the crop work for me!

Both great, but prefer the crop - good stuff.

If ever a bird was made for 'bird on a stick' images, it was the stonechat. The light does show it up well and I too prefer the portrait crop. Great shot. Eric
