Taken last week from a hide in Finland. The bird is a female in it's third calendar-year.
1D MarkIII + 500/4; iso400, 1/40, f14, fullframe.
I tried a small aperture to get more effect from the falling snow. I feel maybe I got too many details in the BG, because of this ?

a really beautiful bird and a lovely photograph. The background would have been cleaner with a larger aperture but I do like the falling snow which the slow shutter has provided.

Beautiful bird, posing nicely. I like the snowflakes and don't mind the background. A little more room on top would be good.

Splendid shot of a gorgeous bird. I know where there are some of these, any tips on getting them out into the open?

Hi guys, thanks for your comments! About the hide: it’s a pro hide with space for two; the birds is being brought out in the open by leaving some meat/carrion in the snow. At this particular place it has been done through several years, therefore local Goshawks tend to visit regularly in winter. I only think this practice works in the cold north; in UK or Denmark I doubt Goshawks can be brought in to carrion. I think I would say that of all the raptors, Goshawk is probably the most difficult one to get good shots of – it’s extremely shy, quick, and prefers to stay hidden in the woods.
I couldn’t change lenses during the day so I was stuck playing with the 500/4 and converters. I saw three different birds at the place, but only one at the time. The birds come and go very quietly!
Cheers, Helge
