Went out snowshoeing with the camera yesterday up in the Molas Pass area of the San Juans. Unfortunately, recreational activities are in full swing in the area as the high meadow was riddled with snowmobile, skiing and snowshoe trails. This was about the best shot I came away with before incoming clouds killed the light. Nothing great but it was a pleasant, picture postcard afternoon. I want to shoot this scene again after a good snow covers up the dimples in the fg (from snowmobiles passing by on a nearby trail). But for now, this is what I got.

What a scene! I remember you posting something like this awhile back. Great shot, dimples and all.

This is definitely one of those times I wished I lived in the San Juans.

Very pretty. If I had views like this I might enjoy winter more.

Those trees are totally bare!
What happened? Did it stop snowing for a day or two?
You've got a great backyard to play in.

It is amazing, Bill. They had 18 inches of snow over two days ending on Tuesday. That sun just burns it off! The roads were bare and everything. Nothing like that Minnesota sun I'm used to. Laurie, I've heard you've had about 20" of snow all winter, but its been so cold that it's all still there!

Beautiful shot Guy. I love the snowy peaks in the back and all the long shadows cast from the trees.

Looks like paradise to me - very nice. I imagine that the noise of the snowmobiles wasn't far off, but this feels very peaceful.

A beautiful shot of one of the most beautiful parts of Colorado. The San Juans are special.

I like how the trees in middle to foreground are dotted around. Nice capture Guy.

I would not lower it to postcard status, it's definately a Wall Hanger!

That is one beautiful shot! Makes me want to head to the mountains now, but my truck is in the shop
Beauty of a shot, Guy. Technically, you're looking mostly at the Grenadier Range here. I've got nothing against postcards, but this does rise way above postcard level. This looks like it was taken right along 550, are you sure those dimples aren't from snow plows driving by? I've shot this scene many times, and was just by there today. You're right about snowmobile tracks, though. Seems to be a popular place to muck up a perfectly smooth snow surface.

James is right, this is a wall haner!
