Canon 1D2n, 600mm f4 is +2xtc, 1/200s, f8, iso 400.
Managed an afternoon's practice at a local wildlife reserve. Couldn't get low to the water. Still finding great difficulty getting adequate sharpness, possibly due to converter, but more likely technique.
A nice shot with a well controlled exposure.
The 600mm lens is certainly capable of good sharpness with a 2X converter. Which version converter are you using as the Mk 11 version is apparantly optically superior to the original Mk 1 version?
I'd suspect the shutter speed may be partly to blame, with 1/200 sec being just a little on the slow side for consistently sharp shots time after time.

Thanks Justin - I'm using the mark 11.

I would agree that a faster shutterspeed may have helped given the 1200mm focal length. Still a nice image - would it maybe benefit from a slight clockwise rotation?

Well worth the attempt Ian but yes I would say that shutter speed is its downfall.
For ages I used to keep ISO down to low 100,s the downside being shutter speed. I couldnt make out why only a few shots turned out sharp.
It can be done but I would say it takes plenty of practice to handle 600 and 2X conv.

Nice shot but I think it needs a bit of CW rotation? These fellows can move at a fair lick so I agree that you were really pushing it at 1/200th.

Hi Ian,
I'll assume you used some support for the lens (i.e. Bean Bag or Tripod?) if so I agree with shooting a higher shutter speed! Lovely exposure though!
