First Water vole with the Canon 1D mk111
Hi to all,

Headed out Mansfield way this morning and bumped into this little chap , this super little creature gave me a good opportunity to test out the mk111 for the first time and I have to say I wasn't disappointed

Converted in DPP / Buggered up in CS2

Canon 1D mk111 , 500F4IS + 1.4T/c , Gitzo1325 , Wimberley v2

Is the eye sharp?
Looks to be front focused on my monitor.

Take a touch off the top to bring the top in line with the top of the greenery on the LHS and you'd have a lovely composition.
Good to see so many water vole shots on here, populations healthy?

Great oppourtunity and capture. On my monitor it seems to give it a double image around the head. Must be me getting old. :toast:

Question ???

If the eye isn't sharp and may I add it looks sharp on my monitor , and the lense is front focusing , which way ( + or - ) should I adjust the AF Microadjustment in custom functions??? on a 1Dmk111 to compensate , if anyone can answer this i'd appreciate it.

very nice shot, seems sharp enough to me, wouldn't mind a little off the bottom though

Nice clean shot of an animal that always seems to be tight to the vegetation on the bank. Loads of voles around here too John although they're not everywhere like they were twenty years ago. We do have a lot of mink as well, and have had for at least ten years, so I wonder if a balance is being struck at last.
Processing looks good to me Andy.

Lovely image Andy - not the usual WV shot - very nice indeed :toast:

Agree, there's a lot of usable sharpness infront of the subject that needs 'pushing back' in order for it to be more useful.

But it doesn't detract from the image at all - nice one matey :toast: :wavey:

a very nice image, always hard to get a clean background with water voles so this image stands out in that regard. The eye looks sharp to me, although I agree there is some 'wasted' DOF in front of the vole.

Very nice shot of a creature I've yet to photograph. Everything works for me and the eye appears acceptably sharp at this end.
