I will be traveling out to Utah again in the Fall, but this time with relatives who've never been out to the desert SW. I'd like to get a hotel somewhere in the middle of Moab so that we're in easy walking distance to most of the town, but I usually stay at the edges of town when I go.

Does anyone recommend a specific hotel (respectable, but reasonably priced) in the downtown area?

I'd recommend the Red Stone Inn. It's in the middle of town and has lower prices than most. The rooms are somewhat small but nice.

Yup. I think my jeep club reserves most of Red Stone Inn for our Moab trip every year too.

I stayed at the Gonzo a few weeks ago, recommended by Bret Edge.

It was fine.

I was in Moab yesterday--theres a million hotels that run the whole range in price etc--take your pick. All of them are 'downtown', or at least within a half mile of it!

In the fall you can get great deals on rooms at the Gonzo Inn. Best hotel in town, hands down, and you should be able to get rooms for around $90/night in late fall. Aside from that, Sleep Inn or Holiday Inn Express would be my recommendations. The others sit too close to the bars and bad neighborhoods with lots of property crime (i.e. vehicle burglaries, etc.).

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Express there a few times, and recommend it. Nice place and fairly close to the entrance to Arches NP.

I really like the Best Western Greenwell Inn. right in the middle of town, nice spacious rooms, and comfy beds.
