Greylag Goose (Anser anser) coming in to land, Slimbridge
This is an image from Saturday when I visited Slimbridge with a friend who is new to photography. Spent most of my time photographing the rear end of the captive flamingos (Nope I can't remember why I did it - must have drunk too much the previous evening ). Anyway I got this from on of the hides. Comments are, as always welcome. The technical details are:
- Camera: Canon EOS 1D Mk IIN
- Lens: Canon 500mm f4 IS + 1.4x
- Aperture: f6.3
- Shutter Speed: 1/1250s
- ISO: 400
- Metering: Evaluative
- Exposure Control: Aperture Priority
- Camera Support: Gitzo 1325 + Wimberley Gimbal
- RAW Conversion: Catpure One
- Post Processing: Levels, Curves, USM (FocalBlade)
- Crop: Approx. 80% of image. Cropped off top and left-hand side
Hi Adrian, great shot showing the moment of the landing gear down I am with Gary, on the rotation - I think it would look better, even though it probably looked like that.

Gary,Helge,
Thanks for the comments - I, too, am worried about the rotation as it is actually correct as it is shown but the far bank looks "off". When I tried to rotate it it looked as though the bird was nose diving . Maybe a compromise might work - will take a look.
Great capture! I like it a lot. Looking at the horizon I think it needs a little rotation too.

I'd leave well alone on this shot Adrian, yes I can see the point, but for me the whole thing about this image is the high approach angle of the goose - this will be lost if you do any rotation.
Nice shot and good landing angle for the bird. I would'nt touch the rotation but I might darken the top right corner to match the left, as I think this might ease the rotation feel a bit.

Errr Tim, being as how I'm a relative novice with PhotoShop how do I do that?
