I have a tachihara 4x5 and I am interested in getting a brighter g.glass for it. I think I can speed up focus time w/ a brighter glass. ANybody know where and what to buy?

Try Maxwell Precision Optics, that's who made my focusing grid for my Hasselblad earlier this year. Very well respected and precise.

I currently have a Satin Snow on my Shen Hao. It is definitely brighter, but I don't think that it is as sharp as the OEM ground glass. For $10 or so, it is hard to really go wrong with it, although the lead time on orders has gotten fairly long. The owner is very upfront about this, so there shouldn't be any surprises.

I had a Maxwell on my Toho. Great focusing screen! Nice and bright. Not cheap, but first rate. I have read good things about the Satin Snow. Not supposed to be quite as good as the Maxwell, but way cheaper.

If you call Bill Maxwell, be prepared for a long conversation. He is a great guy, but loves to talk. Getting off the phone is tough.
