Haystack at Cape Kiwanda
Well, my first post in months that isn't an old photograph. I snapped this on Sunday driving the Three Capes loop with Jack. We had solid clouds pretty much all afternoon, but fora few minutes we got some decent sun. It wasn't out too long.

All in all, a fairly boring shot, but I think it's decent, and what I learned from my recent sale is, what I or other photographers might see as boring, others think it would fit in their office.

Anyway, it felt great to get out and shoot for the first time in several months. Hopefully, I'll get out some more soon.

Simple maybe, boring no! I think it's a clean good looking image Ryan, with plenty of detail in the shadows. And you are most correct about what you may like and what may sell might be two different things. I find that it my work as well.

It's definatly a hanger. Nice work!

Yep, it's a "less is more" shot for sure. The crescent cloud ties the image together. What is bugging me, though, is the funny thing on the shore L of center. Almost looks like a white shrub. I don't spend enough time at the beach.

Here's another view. I like Ryan's a lot more than this one. I was trying to see what the effect of the sun behind the haystack would be. i found out and probably should have stepped to the left a bit more. It was good to get out!

Nice one, Ryan! It has a simple, elegant beauty and is definitely NOT boring. Happy for you that you're getting out to shoot some more now.

I think my monitor must be out of calibration, because both images look just great to me, I'd hang either one. As a newbie to all this, I look forward to the day when my own images are of that caliber, and they pop on my screen in Photoshop and I think them boring.

I know, I know, most everyone on this forum are the heavy hitters of NPN, and you guys really want CC, but when you light up someone's screen and pull them away from the flourescent-lit corporate fuzz for a few minutes and provide that NW breath of fresh air and the beauty of Creation, I thought it'd be nice for y'all to know.

Wonderful light in this Ryan! If I were to change anything it would be to move the haystack to the right half of the image. It seems a bit awkward to be on the left - to my eye.

I like this one Ryan. It's simple, clean and pleasing to the eyes. I must be a left brain guy, because I like Haystack and the sun on the left in this image. It gives it a unique feel, unlike many of the classic shots I've seen. My only issue is the slightly distracting reflection in the LL, but it's definately a keeper in my book.
