Starry Afternoon
Again, out at Kiwanda with Ryan. Shot just as the tide was beginning to come back in. 10 minutes later this guy was washed away. Too bad is wasn't one of those bright red "blood" stars! Thoughts and comments always appreciated!

Jack: I like looking at the little guy and don't mind his duller color. What bother me about this image is the three outcroppings of stones all lined up. It just appears too static to my eye. I played around with crops, and it looks more intimate to me to cut out the horizon and topmost outcrop/pile, leaving just the one the sea star is laying on and the one immediately above it. Just MHO.

I totally agree Marc... this isn't one of my favorites but the star fish was pretty cool!

Any other comments form others are appreciated!

I like this scene a lot, Jack. The starfish is well placed in the right side foreground. The way the water is rendered by the slow shutter speed provides enough mood and action to compliment the "solidity" of all the rock. Still, I would agree with bringing the comp into greater intimacy where the starfish is the star.

What might help this image a bit would be to crop the top 15% off. That upper part seems to distract IMHO.

Jack, I agree on cropping the top portion of this image, at least a 1/4 of it. I think it would be better. And not sure if it's me but it looks like your web imae lost alot in the compression as it's not very sharp.

agree with the above, either its web compression, your tripod moved or the DOF is just very very shallow....

and I do wish it had a touch more color!

I like the shot, I just wish there was a little bit more dof.
