It seems I've created a bit of confusion having two trips in the same thread. Sorry about that. I'm splitting the two events into separate threads, to alleviate that confusion. Roman is leading the Woodburn trip and I'm leading the La Conner trip. Thanks again for your help Roman!

Ok, here we go, two days away. Sunrise is at 6:30. I will be there at 6:00 and the gates will be open...drive in and toward wherever the tulips are. They rotate the fields every year so I am guessing this year it will be to the right as you pull in and just behind the main building in the main parking lot.
If that is so, the parking will not be the long drive back behind the building but the lot right in front of the first building you see to your right when you get in the parking lot.
ANYONE who reads this is welcome....the more the merrier. See all that choose to come at 6:00ish. So kick the rooster in the head (to wake HIM up) and meet us all out there!!!!
Look forward to meeting those that show up.
Just look for an 04 Dark Silver-Blue Jeep Grand Cherokee....or me running around with an LED light on my head.

END UPDATE April 10
=============
I'm beginning the research for this trip. I'll be gathering info on accommodation's, field accessibility, etc. I won't be finalizing the date until shortly before the event, as I want to make sure we get as close to peak as possible. I think we can safely assume it will be sometime in April
Any suggestions, information, or advise that you can share is greatly appreciated. You can either post it in this thread, or email me at cknight(at)cascademountainphotography(dot)com.
I'm currently planning for Skagit Valley. There is also a nice crop in Woodburn, Oregon. time permitting, I'll try to gather accomodation info for that area as well, so folks can plan trips to that area. Or maybe we can work in an event in both areas. I think the peak is a week or so sooner down here than it is up north...?
I already have contacts at woodburn as I am there every year. I would be happy to coordinate times and permission to be on site before sunrise. My gallery is full of work since 2004, I have not missed one since (they even had balloons lifting off Easter morning...which was an unknown supprise for me last year). Just drop me a line if you would like me to coordinate that part. Going to suggest that 12-13th of april being probably peak color...although we will have to look...might be one week earlier as it has been popping all over with our mild spring coming on strong.
Note: ProPhotoSupply will be having a class there on the day of the 12th But shouldnt be in the way as they get there as the light gets harsh (10:00 AM) Bout the same time we would be packing up our gear.
PS, so far, when you get there before the opening time, there is no entrance fee.

Thanks Roman! as per our email exchange I'll be getting in touch with you.
sorry folks, I've been so swamped this month I haven't had much time to do much planning. I'll make some time next week.
With Roman's help though it looks like maybe we can actually have either two events or parallel events in Woodburn and Skagit. If anyone can help me out with Skagit Valley, I'd be eternally grateful.

I' hope I am around and would love to join and meet you folks.
Spring is on the WAY.

FIRST: Roman, thanks loads for helping with information and access in Woodburn. I very much appreciate your help!
Second: Folks I'm sorry for the lack of organization on my part for the Skagit Valley end. The end of the quarter deadlines at work left me little time for anything other than occasionally browsing NPN. I'm finally caught up so I'll get to work on this and hopefully get some info before it's too late.
If anyone has connections up there, please contact me.
Curtis, when I was up there a couple weeks ago (skagit valley) the bloom looked to be still a couple weeks. I read in the paper this morning they are a little late this year because of the cold.
Just looked at the field report for the 12th and looks like we are set for peak color. Temps are rising, and Saturday Forcast is partly cloudy...PERFECT!!!! This is going to be a nice outing folks.
I know I am excited!

2. Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Woodburn (Oregon - link provided in an earlier post in this thread) will be this Saturday.
Both were proposed in the origonal thread before it was edited, I volunteered to head up the Oregon outing as I already have an established relationship with the people at wooden shoe as I shoot it every year.
LOL...tell her that you will get to the shoot, and be home before breakfast...LOL!!!
My wife will probably end up going with. Actually the Tulip shoot IS on here Honey-Do list for me. She keeps me shooting and arranged as this slowly transforms into my second job. Couldnt ask for a better partner in work....or life.
Kevin, I trolled the Skagit last week (April 4th) and nary a tulip above ground yet in the fields. Some are up and just opening in the show garden at Roosengaarde. At tulips.com there is a field map with the bloom update. Hope to see you there.
Looks that the probability of a clear sunrise tomorrow (Saturday, Apr 12) is quite high.
I wish you guys good luck. I already went to the Woodburn Tulip Farm last week so probably I won't be there, altough it's very tempting to go anyway just to meet some of you in person finally. To turn the virtual persons to real ones
However, I think I will try to catch the sunrise on Mount Hood this time. I will see...
Good luck, everyone, I was there on the 9th for fam-fam shots. The tulips are at peak...the fields used are straight back this year, away from Mt. Hood and off to the left.
I hope the weather holds out for me on Monday??? That will be my Odark:30 trip
Ok...thanks for that Kevin. So with that information, drive in the gate, and then all the way back to the right behind the building in the main parking lot along the long driveway WAYYYYY Back to the end.

Roman, nice timing! I don't know if you knew about the hot air balloons, but they were a very cool bonus!
Thanks a ton for organizing this morning's outing!
Hey Curtis, no problemo! I have to say this week wasnt the best week for this, color wasnt what I expected....Will have to visit over the next two weekends as well. I really got nothing to speak of on this outing....so for me it was all about meeting you guys!!!! I guess the balloons are a yearly thing now. Might even be next weekend and the one after as well.
Based on my conversation with Barb...anyone can come early for photography purposes, so everyone feel free to show up early and their only big rule is stay in the big rows...no "tiptoeing through the tulips".
I will be there next saturday....I have a show in the Salem area, and that will get me better than 1/2 way there before the showing....and way early to set up.
Can't wait till our next outing...look forward to meeting more of you all!!!

I'm planning on joining you. Do you have directions (or a link to the farm's website)?
Thanks!
