I had a meeting in Joplin yesterday afternoon, so I took a quick detour to Mount Magazine to see how much snow was on top. It was pretty foggy for most of the morning but there was around 8 inches of snow on top. the depression near the bottom is where the road is supposed to be. I got to make fresh tracks! My wife did not believe me when I told her Mount Magazine was on the way to Joplin.
I converted this shot to black and white since there was not much color anyway.
Hey Tom cool. I love the snow on the branches. Good decision to head to Mount Mag it always seems to get more snow. I love this snow I hope this other front brings us another chance.
Nice to see this, Tom. And way to go on the fresh tracks. That does feel nice. Funny thing, when I moved further north, I expected more snow. There is more snow in this photo than we've had on the ground all year in Lexington. There is a chance that may change this weekend. Here's to hoping.
By the way, did you remind your wife that when you own a camera, everywhere is "on the way" to everywhere else.

That's a nice snowfall - wish we would have received more around our area. Good choice to make it a B&W!
Darn it! Mount Magazine was my intended destination that morning. But I looked out the window at home and saw how the wind was whipping around and decided to go to work instead. From my experience, Mount Magazine is the windiest spot in the region.
I like your image, Tom.
Beautiful trees and snowfall, Tom. It's amazing how tight the snow gradient was with this storm. I was in disbelief when Tim said Russellville got 13 inches!
Of course, I've got to ask if you went down to "The Tree" to see what it looked like.
Bill, I had the best intentions of going to see "The Tree" but I ran out of time. I am betting if I could have stayed another hour there would have been broken clouds and some blue sky and " The Tree" would have been nice. Oh well, I was glad for the little time I was able to spend on top! There may be more snow chances tomorrow!
Living in Joplin I wish the snow had detoured and ended up here Then that would have been my picture instead of yours, Tom. We've not had any real snow to speak of this year and I'm missing it. It doesn't help that my kids in Springfield said they were building igloos on the dormitory front lawn Tuesday.
