The information should be exactly the same on any digital device. The differences between cards are mainly performance oriented, like how fast it can download the file to the card. Stability may also be an issue.
Most of the high end cards from the brand names (Lexar, Sandisk, Kingston, Panasonic, etc) are faster than they need to be, so there's no problem there. Some of the off-brands will advertise numbers that are comparable, but aren't consistent or are skewed to appear to be as good as the higher end cards. And overall, there seems to be less faults (lost pictures, bad reads, corruption) with better cards - with Sandisk apparently being the best (although not perfect, and I don't know that this applies to their cheap cards).
As far as the sharpness question, Zack was right that the data should be exactly the same. To explain a little more, the image is stored as a string of numbers (ones and zeroes). So there's really no "image" there - Just the string of numbers that the computer can read. So every card will store the exact same string of numbers.
Everything has always been the same for me, I use a mix of Kingston and Ridata cards, which seem to be a solid bang for my money, and have operated flawlessly for over 2 years and thousands of images. I get them at newegg.com.
