Just reading Andy Rouses review of the 1DsIII
http://www.warehouseexpress.com/Home/default.aspx?/arouse/reviews/Canon1DsMkIII_Review.html

The words like

"I would have expected to buy the 1DS MK3"
"Instead it is in the box and being returned."

Surprises me, not that i think Andy is dishonest in what gear he uses, but that with most agencies seeming to be crazy about higher and higher resolution files, it seems odd that a professional is rejecting the new "king".

Interesting... as its probably still better than my D2X at high ISO

I think it is well known that Andy has now " jumped ship" and gone Nikon with a D3,
I see he had his Canon mk3 body up for sale, but I think he kept his 1Dsmk2.
Canon must have really p****d him off.

I've used the 1DS Mk 2 for nearly 3 years now, and unless my business was awash with cash simply wouldn't consider the upgrade for the Mk3 as a worthwhile investment for the extra pixels, especially as I don't really need them, nor do any of the agencies I work with.

If I were where I was 3 years ago though, then I might think differently and it would probably be the route I'd take.

I'm sort of guessing this is where Andy's coming from - as an incremental investment, not really necessary but if it's a major one you're looking for then it'll certainly meet all your needs.

That has to be the least enthusiastic review I’ve ever read by Andy. When I read his D3 review a while back I knew he’d jump ship!

If Andys experiences are anything like mine with canon Suisse then i can completely understand it-They do not know the meaning of customer service and dont give a damn if you stay with Canon or not-I am going to sell ALL my canon gear over the next few months before i move States side and move over to the 'Dark Side' if you come over to Switzerland and see a guy with a 500 sticking out of his a*@e then that will be my CPS rep, With Andy i suspect that yes Canon did P him off but maybe Nikon tempted him-Good on them and good on him

Andy Rouse and a few other pro photographers were singing praises of the performance of the Canon EOS 1DMARK3 in the past.....it seems no one seems to remember that....i think whether you move to Nikon or not should be based on YOUR own experiences and not of what someone else writes...whether this is right or wrong. I also don't think he is saying the 1DSIII is an awfull piece of kit, i think he is saying that this camera just doesnt fit in the way he takes images....but then i am Dutch so maybe my understanding of English is just crap!

I must admit that i didnt get much joy with canon when i had some issues with my 20D, but i assumed that was because i want a pro. But i had a very different responce from nikon when i had D200 issues, their technical support people where excelent, though i did have to wait on hold a few times.

Sounds like you not having much joy then Dave?
