Going through the archives, I found this one from mid-November. I'm showing 2 crops, and I'm interested in which you prefer. I'm leaning towards the vertical because of its simplicity. Thanks for looking, and commenting.
Hi Rob,
I looked these two over a few times. Initially I liked the image with the tree (I just seem to like trees).
But then I found myself always being drawn back to the trunk, which left out the other 75% of the image. The real beauty are the leaves against the wonderful puffy clouds. Simpler is a good way to describe it. More does not always mean better. Neat photo.

Nice clouds, Rob. Both are nice, but the one I find more interesting is the bottom one - it has more to look at!
Rob, I'd have to go with the horizontal, too. I do like simplicity, but the top picture seems a bit out of balance, or something. The horizontal kind of has two opposing sides that create an interesting symmetry.
Chiming in from up nort', I prefer the lower photo in some ways, but more prefer the upper photo for it's simplicity. When I first opened this page, I said "WOW!" when I saw the vertical photo, but I didn't at all have that response with the hz photo. What about cropping out the trunk of the tree on the hz photo, so that you get the simplicity of the vt photo in more of a square format???
OK, I'm back! ;) Yes, I do like this more, in part because it feels like a poem or a koan or something like that - the image sort of tells me something or leads me to something, but then it doesn't. I feel this nice tension between wanting to name this image, as a way of describing it, of capturing it, and of not naming it because it doesn't seem like it can be captured...
I'm not trying to wax philosophic, but that's how this image touches me...
