Here are some shots I just processed from a quick trip to the Sangres Friday before work. It was a magical morning. I wanted to be in at least three places at one time for sunrise! The title is in reference to the first image.
I just can't seem to get enough of theSanges lately. Most of the shots were taken from right along the 96. As Todd mentioned it is hard 'not' to find a place to shoot from when in that area.
All of them are great, but 73/82 is my favorite, both in terms of light and comp. I assume that photo was taken with long zoom. Am I correct?
I can see why you and others like that area. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Momo,
Yep, on this trip I wanted to get more close ups. So I shot exclusively with my Canon 70-200L. If anyone want the see the details the exif data is available for each image by clicking on it->Hover over->I for Info.
The last time I shot the moon I was using my Zeiss 35-70mm for a wider pano view of the Sangre range.

I like the first one too. Nice all the way around! This must have been a really long shot.

I really like the images with the windmill in them. Well done!
Thanks guys. One of the most amazing things out there is that if there are clouds the whole Wet Mountain Valley really light ups with the Sagres as a backdrop. It is a pretty awe inspiring sight, especially if you have are going thru winter doldrums! There are more clouds and snow in the forecast. So next week should be killer as well!
Derek, I have been a long time fan of your photography. Now that I am a member I can comment on your pictures as well In this collection...I especially like the second one then the first one.... beautiful images overall... excellent work as always and I am inspired, regards, Rajeev
Love the first of the windmill shots. Fantastic. They all look really, really cold.

Matt,
It was really, really Cold!
Although I don't have a thermometer in my car that night was forecasted to go sub zero in Westcliffe. And even with no wind it was one of the coldest mornings I have shot this winter. But I would do it again in a heartbeat if the same conditions were present ( eg - fresh snow, clouds around the peaks, etc...). I did stay pretty close to the car and heater however! Fortunately my camera didn't freeze up like it has before under really similar conditions.
Thanks for the comments on the windmill. I have been looking for one for a while now with a good background. But it always seems like they are not in a good location or have too much cr@p around them. I would like to shoot it next time with alpen glow.
