one from my vole spot today, had a fairly productive day am beginning to recognise some of the voles (well the one with only one eye anyway) despite that still yet to get a vole with any sun on it

Nice portrait. Would love to find some around here to have a go at.

Lovely image. The grass in his mouth is a nice bonus. Maybe cut down a bit on the white balance. A bit less warm would make this even better imho.

Hi Jack,

Lovely shot. Not seen one of these little critters for years although I am keeping my eyes peeled.

Yes a little more toning down will really add to this excellent image :toast:

Yes its looking better Jack. You could even tone the BG down a bit more and then put more empasis on the Vole to make it pop a bit more.

a lovely portrait and I also prefer the cooler version. I like the fact it's chewing a blade of grass, that does add to the image.

Hi Jack

Very nice - water voles like many of our mammals do not like direct sunlight and I think they photograph better in overcast lighting anyway!

Most mammals are better suited to slightly overcast conditions... this is a very nice portrait of an endearing creature... one I have yet to get in front of my lens... you are getting a very nice series of images.

Very nice indeed. I also thought the original was too warm and yellow looking, the re-post looks much better IMHO.

I'm also a great believer in overcast light for small mammals, and certainly wet ones at that, as I'm not that keen on the glare off their coat from undiffused flash or sunlight.

The blade of grass in the mouth is the icing on the cake.
