More RRR.
Josh's recent post got me thinking about a drive up RRR, so i decided the 50/50 odds i figured i had at getting some light Sunday morning were good enough, and headed up for sunrise. The 4 inches of fresh snow made the drive more interesting, on top of all the old snow thats still up there. It clouded up and started snowing again on my way down.

One more, closer to sunrise. One more at ESS! Overall, a cool shoot, but id like to go back on a fog day.

They're nice, Stan. I like the first one best. Will now go check out ESS.

Awesome clouds and beautiful light in the first one, Stan. Both are nice, though. Off to ESS...

Well, I missed it again! My wife and I drove up there yesterday afternoon for the first time and we found the spot but at 4:00 the light just wasn't right. You guys never told me that there was still a foot of snow on the road so that made for an interesting ride to say the least. I'm guessing this is more of a sunrise than sunset location, am I right?

I really like these comps Stan. The light is nice and dramatic too. I'd maybe rotate the second image counterclockwise just a tad, but these are great.

Yea Jack, the odds are better for a good sunrise shot. The alpenglow/light on the face of the peak is much better then. You might get lucky if the clouds are good for sunset, but the peak will not be illuminated as well during this time of the year. Be careful up there.

You keep showing me snowy Colorado and I may have to stay in Florida longer!

Currently shooting birds around Ft. Myers, etc.

Really nice shots, Stan. Never been down Rampart Range Road - but I will definitely have to pay a visit this season.

The ESS shot is my fav. :toast:

Oh My Stan you now have the Pot O Gold with that first one!! :toast: It jumps out at me and the clouds really add depth and a feeling of the 3rd dimension.

The mid level clouds in the first shot are definitely cool. Kinda wish I'd stayed up in the Springs that morning as I did not have such good luck where I went.
