being new to CA, I am hoping to learn from this forum's members their favorite spots for spring wildflowers. I have long gazed wistfully at photographs of the iconic California poppies, and can't wait to get out there and photograph them myself this spring. I will be in the Santa Barbara/San Luis Obispo/Antelope Valley region around March 21, which is when I expected flowers to start looking really abundant in those areas. Am I correct? Any suggestions on places to go near the aforementioned locations? Thanks.

Joshua Tree( south enterence--Cotton Wood Springs area, Amboy Crater 40 mins from 29palms ( north side of JT NP).
